My sort of trip down memory lane!

A few pictures of me a LOOOONG time ago...BTW, there's no enhancing these pictures, the cards are old, wrinkled, and faded...

In 1978 I was hired by WMUL-TV (now WPBY-TV) in Huntington, WV. We were a part of the WV Public Broadcasting System, and I was a Production Assistant.
My job included switching breaks between shows, and also travelling to remote locations to shoot video. We covered Marshall University football (GO THUNDERING HERD!), music and educational shows. Occasionally we got farmed out to cover sporting events in the area. This is the photo off my ID card for the station, taken when I was 21. (below)

In October 1980, I moved to Petersburg, VA to go to work for WXEX (now WRIC), the local ABC affiliate. I turned 22 nineteen days after I arrived in VA, so I am 21 in this photo. This is my first driver license issued in Virginia (I've had a bunch more since then!) (below)

Working at WXEX opened a lot of other doors for extra income and learning. After working the Miss Teenage Virginia Pageant in 1982 as a transimission engineer, I contracted with King's Dominion amusement park to repair, update and renovate several of their sound reinforcement systems. In addition to my contractor's pay, I was given a season pass. So this is what I looked like in 1982. I also worked for them in 1983 and 1984. (below)

During my last few months at WXEX, the 1984 Gubernational Campaign came along. I worked as the frequency coordinator for the many news organizations that came to Richmond to cover the race and the transmission engineer for WXEX. Everyone working in any capacity during the campaign had to have official ID. THe Secret Service was running around because Chuck Robb was running for governor. You simply wore the ID around your neck all the time, 24/7, because you never knew when you might get called out to visit a remote site and do a transmission analysis and frequency coordination for some organization.
